The 2018 Pantone Color of the Year: Ultra Violet

A new year calls for a new color, and Ultra Violet is leading us into our new year with imagination, style, and individuality as it was announced the 2018 Pantone Color of the Year.

We really haven’t seen a purple shade as Color of the Year since 2014’s Radiant Orchid, which leaned much more towards the gentle, delicate, powdery side of violets. Ultra Violet takes on a much more radiant, intense, and meaningful tone, as well as portraying a sense of mysticism and intrigue.

Ultra Violet is such a wonderful color to incorporate into your wedding and personal stationery because it conveys such deep emotion. It’s a gorgeous color to use as an invitation paper option but could be equally balanced with a just touch of Ultra Violet ink for emphasis.

As the Pantone Color Institute explains, Ultra Violet is the ultimate symbol from the universe and conveys feelings from the cosmos; a deeply imaginative and intuitive color for times that require a spark of creativity from deep within ourselves. It has a historical context of being closely tied to spirituality and mindfulness, but above all, it’s just so darn gorgeous.

What are your thoughts on the 2018 Pantone Color of the Year? Could you see yourself incorporating this color into your wedding stationery? Persnickety would love to hear from you and would love to help you make a meaningful Ultra Violet invitation suite completely yours.
