Wedding show season is nearly upon us! January and February are host to a number of wedding shows. Attending wedding shows is fabulous for brides—it trims down the amount of time it takes to select vendors and is an excellent way for brides to ask all their burning questions to the experts. However, persnickety knows that attending one of these events can be stressful, so we put together a survival guide in order to make the most of your wedding show experience!
1. Location, Location, Location
Choose to attend wedding shows that are in the same geographical area as your wedding in order to meet regional exhibitors. Though there will be so many shows to attend, try to choose 3 in order to avoid burnout.
2. Know Your Venue
Try to vary your wedding show venues to include larger conventions and boutique shows. Large wedding shows absolutely have an exciting buzz about them, but they have the potential to be overwhelming and crowded. On the other hand, boutique shows are generally smaller with fewer brides but offer more upscale services.
3. Pre-Register
Consider pre-registering and purchasing tickets for the show in advance in order to avoid any hassle when you arrive to the show. Sometimes, discounts are offered for brides who purchase their tickets in advance.
4. Make a Checklist
In order to save time at the show, make a checklist of required services you will need for your wedding day. It would be extremely helpful to look at the list of exhibitors on the show’s website prior to your arrival so you can prepare any questions you might have for them.
5. Dress for Success
Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking! Plan to be at the show for at least half a day, so make sure you eat something beforehand and bring a drink with you. Have a large bag ready to collect all the brochures and information vendors will be offering to you.
6. Pre-Printed Address Labels
Bring pre-printed address labels to the show in order to avoid filling out your name, address, and email over and over again for prizes and giveaways. persnickety can help you with these if you are in need of personalized address labels! We also suggest bringing a notebook and a calendar to take notes on vendors and services you particularly love or to set up dates with vendors while you are at the show.
7. The Buddy System
Have someone attend the wedding show with you in order to have another person to bounce ideas off of. Try taking your fiancé with you to at least one show (if you can get him to go!) and your friend or mom to another show.
