Is it possible to have too much of a crush on foil stamped wedding invitations? Nah. Persnickety’s heart belongs to one of this year’s most popular stationery trends: foiling.
What is Foiling?
Foil stamping is a printing technique used to create that shiny, metallic look to a design. It is similar to its brothers, engraving and letterpressing, in that a die needs to be made. A metal die is created in the particular shape or artwork, then heated and stamped with enough pressure to press a thin layer of a foil to the design.
A special machine is required to heat the die to a certain temperature and create enough force to make the foil seal to the paper. Because of this, foiling is one of the more expensive printing techniques; a custom metal die typically starts at $300 per die.
One of the reasons why we adore this printing technique though is that there is no need to get a custom invitation or have a custom die made. Many of Persnickety’s album invitations now have foil options at no additional charge, including our extremely popular Seal ‘n Sends!
Just a Few Favs
Below are some of our favorite foil options from our Carlson Craft album collections. Persnickety is thrilled to carry these beautiful designs in our studio, and we are even more thrilled to be able to offer this foiling service in our custom invitations as well.
With so many foils available, including Copper, Rose Gold, Royal, and Red, your invitation can shimmer and shine with ease. Another reason why we’re so in love with this printing technique? You can even use it on your wedding stationery accessories!
